Nova Scotia Health Reports Traffic Changes Near Halifax Infirmary
As of April 25, 2026, Nova Scotia Health has introduced traffic changes near the Halifax Infirmary to support the ongoing Halifax Infirmary Expansion Project.
This critical initiative, part of the 'More, Faster: The Action for Health Build' plan, will eventually add a new Acute Care Tower with 216 beds and 16 operating rooms by 2031.
For the current phase, specifically on April 25, 2026, all southbound lanes on Robie Street between Quinpool and Jubilee Road are closed from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for essential crane operations.
While motorists should expect delays, the Emergency Department remains fully accessible, and pedestrians can use all nearby sidewalks.
Additionally, construction continues through early May, with lane reductions on Robie Street and restricted access on Shirley Street.
Traffic personnel are stationed on-site to ensure safety, and local emergency services are prioritized throughout the construction period.
