New mobile clinic to provide free healthcare for homeless in Geelong
New mobile clinic to provide free healthcare for homeless in Geelong
A new initiative is set to support the vulnerable in Geelong.
Street Side Medics, a not-for-profit organisation, is launching a volunteer-run mobile health clinic starting May 31, 2026.
This service will operate at The Outpost on Little Ryrie Street every Sunday night from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
By providing GP-led care in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment, the service aims to overcome barriers such as cost and distrust.
This project directly addresses the urgent needs of the local community, as the number of people experiencing homelessness in the region has significantly increased over recent years.
To keep the service running, they are actively looking for local medical professionals to volunteer for just one two-hour shift per month.
