New drug shows promise in treating pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer has long been one of the most challenging diseases to treat, but a medical breakthrough is offering new hope.
A drug called daraxonrasib, formerly known as RMC-6236, is being hailed by oncologists as a game-changer.
For decades, the KRAS gene mutation, which drives about 90% of pancreatic cancers, was considered 'undruggable' because the protein lacked a binding site for traditional medicine.
Daraxonrasib overcomes this by acting as a 'molecular glue,' linking to a helper protein to block KRAS growth signals.
In the RASolute 302 trial, patients using the drug saw their median survival time double compared to standard chemotherapy, increasing from 6.7 to 13.2 months.
While currently awaiting final FDA approval, the drug represents a major paradigm shift.
However, ongoing research is exploring its use in other cancers, including lung and colorectal tumors, marking a significant step forward in oncology.
