NASA is gearing up for the launch of the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, set for August 30, 2026.
Nancy Grace Roman, NASAβs first chief of astronomy and a key figure behind the Hubble Space Telescope.
Launching on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy, the telescope will travel to the Sun-Earth Lagrange Point 2, located 1.5 million kilometers from our planet.
The mission aims to tackle some of the biggest questions in science, including the nature of dark energy, the mysteries of dark matter, and the search for exoplanets.
While the Roman Telescope shares the same mirror size as Hubble, its Wide Field Instrument offers a view 200 times larger, allowing it to map billions of galaxies with incredible efficiency.
With a primary mission length of five years, this ambitious project promises to deepen our understanding of how the universe began and how it continues to evolve.
