On June 9, 2026, NASA officially revealed the crew for the Artemis III mission, a pivotal test flight set for late 2027.
This international team includes Commander Randy Bresnik, Pilot Luca Parmitano (ESA), Mission Specialists Frank Rubio and Andre Douglas, with Bob Hines serving as the backup.
Unlike previous goals, Artemis III will not land on the Moon.
Instead, it will remain in low Earth orbit to perform essential risk-reduction testing.
The crew will practice complex docking procedures with uncrewed commercial landers from SpaceX and Blue Origin.
This mission highlights the importance of collaboration between NASA, the European Space Agency, and private sector partners.
By testing docking hardware and new spacesuits in orbit, the team is building the technical foundation for future sustainable exploration of the Moon and beyond.
As we prepare for this next chapter, Artemis III stands as a crucial step toward human space exploration.
