Build A Rocket Boy, a gaming studio founded by Grand Theft Auto veteran Leslie Benzies, has officially entered administration.
Founded in 2016 with high ambitions to develop the user-generated platform 'Everywhere' and the narrative game 'MindsEye', the company now faces a grim financial reality.
Following a disastrous June 2025 launch for 'MindsEye', which suffered from poor reviews and technical bugs, the studio struggled to recover.
By late 2026, the company reported a £47.5 million operating loss and £61.8 million in debt.
The situation was further compounded by a series of internal crises, including mass layoffs, allegations of unauthorized employee surveillance, and legal disputes with a trade union.
Despite leadership blaming an 'organized sabotage' campaign for their downfall, public and industry skepticism remained high.
With the appointment of the Opus Advisory Group to oversee insolvency proceedings, the studio is now winding down operations.
Administrators are currently assessing whether to sell off intellectual property or liquidate assets to satisfy creditors.
This marks a significant fall for a company once hailed as a major player in the future of interactive entertainment.
