Atlus recently made a blockbuster announcement at Anime Expo 2026: the legendary animation studio MAPPA will handle all animated cutscenes for the upcoming title, Persona 4 Revival.
Scheduled for release on February 18, 2027, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game promises a massive visual upgrade.
While MAPPA previously contributed to select sequences in Persona 5 Royal, this marks their first time overseeing the entire cinematic presentation for a Persona entry.
This is a significant milestone, as it is only the second time in the studio's history that they have managed every cutscene for a video game.
To ensure a faithful yet modern experience, the production team thoroughly studied the original series.
Fans were treated to an exciting teaser at the expo, showcasing iconic moments like the protagonist’s Persona awakening.
While the industry buzz is overwhelmingly positive given MAPPA's pedigree with hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man, the announcement has also sparked important conversations regarding the studio's demanding production schedules.
With high expectations, players are eager to see how this top-tier animation house revitalizes the classic Persona 4 world.
