MAO anime coming to Hulu and Disney+ internationally

Fans of legendary creator Rumiko Takahashi are celebrating as the supernatural manga series "MAO" finally received its anime adaptation, which premiered on April 4, 2026.

Produced by Studio Sunrise—the same team behind "Inuyasha"—this exciting new project is set for a continuous two-cour broadcast run.

In the United States, viewers can watch the series on Hulu, while audiences in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America can stream it on Disney+.

The story follows Nanoka Kiba, a junior high student who finds a portal to Japan's Taishō era.

There, she encounters Mao, a 900-year-old exorcist dealing with a complex curse.
