The Grosse Pointe community is once again celebrating the hard work and dedication of its young sports stars.
The annual Athlete of the Year contest, hosted by the Grosse Pointe News, is a cherished tradition that honors outstanding student-athletes from Grosse Pointe North, Grosse Pointe South, and University Liggett School.
Throughout the school year, coaches and community members nominate top performers for the Athlete of the Week series.
These students are recognized not only for their athletic prowess on the field, court, or ice, but also for their commitment to academic excellence.
Each year, four students are crowned winners: one male and one female selected by the news staff, and one male and one female voted for by the community.
The winners receive a $500 scholarship to support their future college education.
This event highlights the leadership and spirit that define Grosse Pointe athletics, reminding us all of the positive impact these students have on their schools and the broader community.
It is a wonderful celebration of balance, discipline, and local pride.
