LIV Golf has officially announced a major shift in its financial future.
Following the departure of its original backer, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the league has secured a new lead investor for 2027.
This undisclosed partner is expected to provide between $250 million and $350 million to stabilize operations through 2030.
Under this new plan, dubbed 'LIV 2.0,' the league will transition to a player-majority equity model, making athletes the primary owners of the organization.
To ensure a more sustainable business, the tour will scale back its schedule from 14 tournaments to 10 events per year, balanced between U.S. and international locations.
Despite previous rumors of a deal with the PGA Tour, officials from both organizations have confirmed that no merger discussions are taking place.
With the new deal expected to be finalized in September 2026, LIV Golf is positioning itself for a leaner, athlete-centered future.
