Starting June 25, 2026, visitors can explore a hidden marvel beneath Washington D.C.'s most famous landmark: the Lincoln Memorial Undercroft.
This vast, three-story basement, built in 1914 to support the monument, is finally opening to the public as part of America’s 250th anniversary celebrations.
Spanning over 43,000 square feet, this "cavernous" space is filled with a grid of impressive concrete columns.
Visitors will discover unique historical treasures, such as early 20th-century graffiti left by original construction workers and natural stalactites created by water seepage.
Don't miss this rare chance to step beneath the monument and uncover the fascinating history hidden in its foundation, guided by the National Park Service during this milestone year for the nation.
