Sudbury recently wrapped up a historic week as it hosted the 2026 New Holland Canadian Under-20 Curling Championships.
Held at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex, which was transformed into an impressive eight-sheet facility, the event brought together Canada's brightest young curling stars.
From March 28 to April 4, 2026, 36 rinks competed in a rigorous round-robin structure, with winners securing a prestigious spot at the 2027 World Junior Curling Championships.
This milestone event, which also included the U21 Mixed Doubles, provided a significant economic boost to the city, estimated between $800,000 and $1 million.
Curling Canada highlighted the event's role in strengthening the sport's community presence in Northern Ontario.
By hosting such a high-caliber national showcase, Sudbury has solidified its reputation as a premier destination for curling, encouraging local clubs to expand and fostering a newfound passion for the game among youth across the region.
