Australian Athletes Shine at World Athletics Indoor Championships
At the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, the national team delivered its most successful indoor campaign ever, securing an impressive total of seven medals.
This performance secured Australia sixth place on the gold medal tally and second overall in total medal counts, trailing only the United States.
A standout moment occurred in the women’s high jump, where Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson claimed gold and silver in a historic one-two finish.
While the 2024 Glasgow championships previously highlighted individual talent like Olyslagers, the 2025 Nanjing squad demonstrated incredible team depth with medals from Lachlan Kennedy, Jessica Hull, Ky Robinson, and Liam Adcock.
By overcoming these structural challenges, the team has signaled a new era for Australian track and field, building momentum as athletes now turn their sights toward the 2026 championships in Toruń, Poland.
