In July 2026, actor Jason Alexander issued a formal public apology for his involvement in a controversial 2012 comedy sketch.
The video, produced for Funny or Die, featured then 17-year-old Courtney Stodden.
Stodden, who had been married to a much older man at the time, recently resurfaced the footage, alleging that the sketch was exploitative and that Alexander, a writer on the project, subjected her to inappropriate behavior and disparaging comments.
Addressing the backlash, Alexander expressed deep remorse.
He told TMZ that looking back, the sketch was entirely inappropriate, and he apologized for the distress his actions caused.
This is not the first time Alexander has apologized for past conduct; he previously faced public criticism for insensitive remarks about cricket and for his treatment of co-star Heidi Swedberg during their time on Seinfeld.
His recent statement reflects an ongoing effort to acknowledge past mistakes as public standards for behavior in the entertainment industry continue to evolve.
