In a significant move for the entertainment industry, New York-based investment firm Influence Media Partners has agreed to acquire the music assets of Canadian company Anthem Entertainment for over $600 million.
Backed by BlackRock, this major deal, signed in July 2026, marks a pivotal moment for both companies.
The acquisition is expansive, covering more than 24,000 released songs and 60,000 unexploited works.
The catalog includes massive hits such as Britney Spears’ “Oops!
Beyond music publishing, the deal secures film and TV soundtracks, including music from blockbuster franchises like Spider-Man and Men in Black.
While this sale represents the exit of Anthem’s controlling shareholder, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, some assets like Compact Media are excluded.
Following two failed attempts by Anthem to sell its business in 2017 and 2022, this agreement reflects a competitive bidding process.
The transaction is expected to finalize in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approval, solidifying Influence Media’s position as a powerhouse in music catalog investment.
