India is set to transform its tourism landscape with the approval of its first-ever night safari and zoological park.
On July 15, 2026, the Supreme Court of India gave the green light for this ambitious project, located within the Kukrail Reserve Forest in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
Estimated to cost ₹1,510 crore, this two-phase development aims to modernize wildlife viewing, moving away from traditional, outdated zoo models.
While this will be India's first urban night safari, it follows the successful examples set by countries like Singapore, China, Thailand, and Indonesia.
The Supreme Court emphasized that the country must progress, noting that the project has already secured essential clearances from environmental authorities.
However, this approval comes with strict conditions to protect the local ecosystem.
By blending conservation with modern tourism, the Uttar Pradesh government hopes this landmark initiative will boost the local economy and place Lucknow firmly on the international map.
