On June 6, 2026, the city of Indore hosted the India–Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Trade and Investment Forum, a significant gathering aimed at strengthening economic ties.
With over 350 delegates from more than 15 nations, including Argentina and Mexico, the event highlighted the growing importance of "South-South" cooperation.
Madhya Pradesh, a key player in this initiative, saw its exports to the LAC region grow by 19% in the last fiscal year, reaching nearly ₹3,835 crore.
The forum underscored India's strategic goal to diversify its trade beyond traditional partners like the U.S. and Europe.
Discussions focused on a "Vision for 2035," emphasizing long-term collaboration in renewable energy, biotechnology, and infrastructure development.
Key export pillars currently include pharmaceuticals, engineering goods, and agricultural products.
By leveraging shared economic needs—such as India's demand for raw materials and Latin America's market for IT services—both regions aim to build a resilient global value chain.
With total trade between the regions steadily rising, the goal of reaching $100 billion seems increasingly achievable, signaling a new era of prosperity and partnership.
