Ivy Road Studio Shuts Down After Failing to Secure Funding
The independent game development studio Ivy Road, founded in 2021 by industry veterans including Davey Wreden and C418, will officially close its doors on March 31, 2026.
Despite the critical acclaim of their title Wanderstop, the team failed to secure the necessary funding for their second project, a vehicular combat game titled Engine Angel.
While the studio is shutting down, Wanderstop will remain available for players, with publisher Annapurna Interactive taking over long-term support and maintenance.
To thank their community, Ivy Road released a final Chapter Select feature for the game and teased one last surprise to be revealed soon.
This closure reflects a broader, challenging trend in the video game industry, where even talented teams struggle to maintain operations amidst risk-averse markets.
For the developers behind Ivy Road, the experience highlights that success in the gaming world often requires a rare combination of immense skill, dedication, and a bit of luck.
