Every year on June 22, the global community comes together to observe World Rainforest Day.
Launched in 2017 by the Rainforest Partnership, this important day serves as both a celebration of our planet's natural wonders and an urgent call to action.
Although rainforests cover less than 10% of Earth's surface, they house over 50% of all plant and animal species and act as the "lungs of the Earth" by absorbing massive amounts of carbon.
Despite their vital role in regulating our climate and maintaining water cycles, these ecosystems face constant threats from deforestation, illegal logging, and agricultural expansion.
World Rainforest Day emphasizes that we must protect these forests not only for their ecological value but for the Indigenous communities who have served as their best stewards for generations.
Through online summits, workshops, and local tree-planting projects, the initiative aims to inspire individuals, governments, and corporations to adopt sustainable practices.
Therefore, immediate action is essential to ensure that we preserve these critical habitats for the future of our climate and our collective wellbeing.
