Ghana Launches National AI Strategy to Boost Local Development
Ghana has officially launched its landmark National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy, a bold ten-year roadmap spanning 2023–2033.
Unveiled on April 24, 2026, by President John Dramani Mahama in Accra, this initiative aims to transform the nation into a leading digital powerhouse.
Developed by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations alongside global partners, the strategy leverages Ghana's impressive mobile penetration, which exceeds 110%.
The plan rests on eight core pillars, including AI education, digital infrastructure, and data governance, to foster inclusive and ethical development.
A major focus is placed on seven priority sectors, such as agriculture and healthcare, where AI can drive significant productivity and innovation.
By prioritizing homegrown solutions and responsible AI usage, Ghana aspires to become a continental hub for technological advancement.
This strategic blueprint not only modernizes public services but also ensures that the benefits of the digital revolution reach every corner of the country, setting an inspiring precedent for African nations embracing the future of technology.
