This year, Disney and Pixar are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the 2006 animated classic, Cars.
To mark two decades of racing adventures, the studio has launched a massive, yearlong global celebration honoring the legacy of Lightning McQueen and his friends.
A major highlight was the nationwide theatrical re-release of the original film on September 4, 2026, perfectly timed to lead into Lightning McQueen Day on September 5, a date chosen for the protagonist's famous racing number, 95.
The festivities extend far beyond the cinema.
The celebration also highlights the centennial of Route 66, the historic road that inspired the film’s setting.
Additionally, enthusiasts can enjoy the touring 'Sally Special' Porsche, new anniversary merchandise, and various integrations in popular games.
Since its release as Pixar's final independent project, Cars has evolved into a beloved franchise.
Its enduring popularity continues to resonate with fans, reminding us that life is truly about the journey, not just the destination.
