UK Implements Stricter Visa Restrictions
The United Kingdom has recently overhauled its immigration system, introducing a series of strict reforms detailed in the May 2025 white paper, "Restoring control over the immigration system."
For Skilled Worker visas, the minimum skill requirement has been raised to degree-level, and salary compliance is now monitored across every pay period.
A major shift occurred in July 2025 when the Health and Care Worker route for overseas recruitment was closed to address concerns over structural labor dependency.
Students are also affected; the Graduate visa duration will decrease to 18 months by 2027, and English language requirements for long-term residency will rise to CEFR Level B2.
Additionally, the Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) system is now fully operational for non-visa nationals.
