OpenAI Launches High-End Pro Subscription in India

OpenAI has officially launched its new Pro subscription tier in India, priced at ₹10,699 per month.

This move aims to bridge the gap between the standard Plus plan and the top-tier enterprise offerings, specifically targeting power users and developers.

The centerpiece of this new tier is significantly expanded capacity for Codex, OpenAI’s coding agent, which now offers five times the usage limits compared to the regular Plus plan.

Besides the enhanced coding capabilities, subscribers receive access to advanced AI models and 'Pro-level' reasoning, including unlimited access to specific 'Instant' and 'Thinking' models.

This strategic launch comes in response to high demand for intensive AI support.

OpenAI has also taken steps to improve transparency in the Indian market by adopting clear, localized pricing inclusive of GST.

As the AI landscape becomes increasingly competitive with firms like Anthropic, India—boasting a massive developer population—has become a primary focus for OpenAI.

While this new Pro tier offers significantly higher limits than the Plus plan, OpenAI reminds users that access is not entirely unlimited, with current usage caps subject to review after May 31.
