Chelsea Football Club has undergone a significant transformation in its ownership structure since 2022.
Initially, the club was purchased by a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly and the private equity firm Clearlake Capital.
This 2022 deal, valued at £4.25 billion, was triggered after the UK government sanctioned previous owner Roman Abramovich.
By September 2026, the club experienced a major ownership restructuring.
Boehly subsequently stepped down as chairman.
Despite these major structural changes, the club emphasized that day-to-day operations and its long-term strategic vision would remain stable.
Clearlake Capital, which had been the majority shareholder since the initial takeover, continues to oversee the club's investments, with Hansjörg Wyss remaining involved as a partner.
