Classic RPG Gothic arrives on PlayStation and Xbox

The legendary Gothic franchise is making a massive comeback on modern consoles.

In a strategic celebration of its 25th anniversary, THQ Nordic has launched a comprehensive effort to bring the cult classic RPG series to PlayStation and Xbox.

Fans now have two distinct ways to experience this influential world: the Gothic 1 Remake and the original Gothic Classic trilogy.

Released in June 2026, the Gothic 1 Remake, developed by Alkimia Interactive using Unreal Engine 5, modernizes the 2001 original with stunning dynamic lighting and a overhauled combat system.

Meanwhile, THQ Nordic is also rolling out faithful ports of the original trilogy, offering console players their first chance to enjoy the 'janky' yet deeply beloved world that inspired modern giants like CD Projekt Red.

By pairing the nostalgic charm of the original—known for its pioneering reactive environments—with a high-fidelity reimagining, the series is successfully introducing its core foundations to a new generation of RPG fans while satisfying long-time followers.
