The iconic 1997 Australian film, The Castle, is set to make a triumphant leap from the screen to the stage.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary, the beloved story about the Kerrigan family and their fight for home is being transformed into a major musical, scheduled to premiere at Melbourne’s Her Majesty’s Theatre in March 2027.
The original creators—Rob Sitch, Tom Gleisner, Santo Cilauro, and Jane Kennedy—are reuniting to write the adaptation, ensuring the production captures the warmth and humour that made the film a national treasure.
Director Paige Rattray will lead the creative team, promising a production that honors the "Aussie battler" spirit while weaving in contemporary references to keep the story fresh for a new generation.
Produced by the Michael Cassel Group in partnership with Working Dog, the production is already generating massive excitement.
