Chiikawa Anime Film Opens in Indonesia

Exciting news for anime fans in Indonesia!

On August 28, 2026, the highly anticipated film, Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island, officially hit local theaters.

Distributed by CBI Pictures, this marks the first feature-length journey for the beloved characters Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi.

While the characters appear adorable, don't let the cuteness fool you.

The film explores surprisingly mature, dark, and philosophical themes, including existential dread and revenge, as the trio investigates a mysterious island where residents are being kidnapped.

Rated 13+ in Indonesia, the movie offers a 100-minute adventure that blends whimsical charm with horror-adjacent tension.

The film has already enjoyed massive success, debuting at number one in Japan before its international rollout.

Grab your tickets and head to the cinema to see if our favorite trio can survive the secrets of the island!
