On May 31, 2026, the Carnival Calabar Commission gathered sponsors and international diplomats at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre in Lagos to unveil the vision that will shape the festival's costumes and performances.
Beyond the colorful parades and pageantry, this year marks a significant shift toward modernization.
Gabe Onah, the Commission is partnering with MultiChoice Nigeria and Canal+ to enhance the festival’s digital presence and global live-streaming capabilities.
Founded in 2004, the carnival remains a vital cultural and economic pillar for Nigeria.
With the current focus of Governor Bassey Edet Otu on expanding festivities across Cross River State, the 21st edition promises to be a landmark celebration, blending rich tradition with a bold, digital-first future that aims to captivate audiences worldwide.
