American River College hosts symposium on AI in the classroom
On April 24, 2026, American River College (ARC) hosted a landmark AI Symposium dedicated to enhancing AI literacy.
Organized by Dyanne Marte, the department chair of fashion and interior design, the symposium invited faculty, staff, and students to explore artificial intelligence together.
The event opened with breakfast from the ARC Oak Cafe, leading into a keynote by De Anza College's Chesa Caparas, titled "Beyond the Hype: Rehumanizing Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence."
Throughout the day, attendees participated in interactive workshops and live demonstrations hosted by industry leaders like Microsoft and Adobe across the campus, including the Diane Bryant STEM Innovation Center.
By moving beyond theory into practical application, ARC is ensuring its community is equipped to navigate the evolving role of AI in higher education, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can learn how to integrate these powerful tools into their daily academic and professional lives.
