Alipay+ Strengthens Security with New Data Privacy Technology
As of April 2026, Ant International has revolutionized the fintech landscape by integrating Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) into its global Alipay+ payment gateway.
This milestone makes Alipay+ the first large-scale digital platform to process transactions while keeping sensitive data fully encrypted.
With a network serving 1.8 billion consumers and 150 million merchants, this upgrade ensures that information remains unidentifiable even to Ant International during the entire payment lifecycle.
Importantly, these advanced security measures operate seamlessly in the background, ensuring there is no negative impact on user experience or transaction speed.
This initiative was developed through strategic collaborations, including a successful partnership with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) and the Digital Trust Centre at Nanyang Technological University.
Looking ahead, Ant International is committed to fostering a more secure ecosystem by encouraging e-wallet partners to adopt similar privacy-preserving computation models.
To promote transparency, the company plans to open-source parts of its PETs codebase, setting a new standard for how financial services balance data-driven insights with robust privacy protection.
