NASA shares new details about the upcoming Artemis II moon mission
NASA is gearing up for a historic milestone in space exploration: the Artemis II mission.
Scheduled for a launch window starting April 1, 2026, this mission represents the first crewed flight of the Artemis program and the first human return to the Moon's vicinity since 1972.
The 10-day mission is a vital test of the Orion spacecraft’s systems in deep space.
Utilizing a free-return trajectory, the crew will travel thousands of miles beyond the far side of the Moon, pushing the boundaries of human spaceflight.
The diverse four-person crew includes NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, alongside the Canadian Space Agency’s Jeremy Hansen.
While future missions like Artemis IV will focus on actual lunar landings, Artemis II remains a critical stepping stone, ensuring humanity is prepared for deeper exploration of our solar system.
