Delhi Launches Inaugural International Film Festival to Boost Global Presence
Delhi recently made a splash on the global cultural stage by launching the inaugural International Film Festival Delhi (IFFD) 2026.
Organized by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation, the festival utilized the iconic Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan as its primary venue, while hosting additional screenings throughout the city.
With over 125 films featured, the festival aimed to boost Delhi’s presence as an international cinema destination, rivaling hubs like Mumbai and Goa.
Beyond entertainment, the IFFD focused on the economic growth of the creative sector, particularly the AVGC industry, through networking initiatives like CineXchange.
It also championed inclusivity with the Her Lens program, which highlighted women filmmakers.
As a long-term cultural project, the IFFD is set to redefine Delhi as a dynamic center for global storytelling, ensuring that cinema becomes a central pillar of the city's future identity and economic strategy.
