Celebrating National Puppy Day and Animal Adoption
Celebrating National Puppy Day and Animal Adoption
Every year on March 23rd, dog lovers around the world celebrate National Puppy Day.
Founded in 2006 by animal advocate Colleen Paige, this special day is much more than just a reason to look at cute photos of puppies.
While it celebrates the joy that dogs bring into our lives, its primary goal is to address the serious issue of animal homelessness and the cruel practices of puppy mills.
By choosing to adopt instead of buying from a pet store, you can help combat these inhumane practices and reduce shelter overcrowding.
Many people worry that shelter animals are unhealthy, but in reality, shelters provide essential medical care and vaccinations.
You can even find purebred dogs in shelters, as about 25% of the dog population there falls into that category.
If you aren't ready to adopt, you can still support local rescues by donating supplies or volunteering your time.
Let's make this National Puppy Day a "celebration with a conscience" by giving a loving home to a dog in need.
