Bengali actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee dies in drowning accident on set
The Bengali entertainment industry is in deep mourning following the tragic death of acclaimed actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee.
On March 29, 2026, the 43-year-old star drowned while filming for the television serial "Bhole Baba Par Karega" at Talsari beach, Odisha.
Despite the immediate efforts of his colleagues to pull him to safety and transport him to Digha State General Hospital, he was declared dead upon arrival.
A staple of Bengali cinema since his breakthrough 2008 hit "Chirodini Tumi Je Amar," Banerjee was a beloved figure who appeared in major works like "Zulfiqar" and "Byomkesh Gotro."
His loss is deeply felt by his family, including his wife, actor Priyanka Sarkar, and their son, as well as by state leadership, including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Local authorities in Odisha are currently investigating the circumstances of this unnatural death.
