Mass Shooting at Austin Bar Investigated as Possible Terrorism
On March 1, 2026, a tragic mass shooting occurred outside a popular nightlife venue, Buford’s Backyard Beer Garden, in downtown Austin, Texas.
The suspect, 53-year-old Ndiaga Diagne, opened fire on a crowd, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and wounding 14 others before being neutralized by police.
Because of the suspect's attire, which included a hoodie reading “Property of Allah,” and items found in his vehicle and home, the FBI is investigating the incident as a possible act of terrorism.
Investigators are exploring whether the attack was a retaliatory act linked to recent geopolitical events involving Iran or the result of self-radicalization.
Despite the swift response by local law enforcement, which limited the total casualties, the incident has reignited national debates on gun reform and immigration policies.
