Learn how to ask questions and make negative sentences in the past tense.

To make a negative sentence in the Past Simple, we use did not before the base form of the verb.

I did not buy a book.

To ask a question in the Past Simple, we place Did before the subject, followed by the base verb form:

Did you play tennis?
